Fit food for the Soul

When by faith we are enabled to find rest in the promises of our Heavenly Father, we are like the sheep that lie down in the midst of the pasture.

We find at the same moment both

  • provisions and peace,

  • rest and refreshment,

  • serenity and satisfaction.

Temptation such as the Bible describes “the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play” comes in many forms like the image of sitting on a chair with the wrong people, eating without hindrance, drinking inadequately, playing extra. All such grayness reflects the fact that people only struggle when they may know of the "green pastures," of the Shepherd but they are not made to "lie down" in them.

Dear hearer, it is the Lord who graciously enables us and leads us to feed upon the preciousness of His truth.

He will forever be and today is presently the door who leads his children to the consumption of His truth; His Word which is always fresh, always rich, and never exhausted.

The Door, which one seeks amongst temptation, soothes the fear of biting the bare ground because the Good Shepherd Lord Jesus always provides the grass long enough to graze, as well for the flock to graciously lie down in it.

Hear me by the Spirit of God,

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make THE WAY of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)

Be encouraged...

With much love, but God loves you more.
